City of Refuge

Quiet times come

When work is all done

And guards close up for the night

Others have gone

I seem all alone

But thinking of you, it’s all right.

Our years on the land

A crude preaching band

Messiah our fount and our fare

And you ever near

Those hurting ones dear

And bringing salvation so rare

The waves pound this Isle

Sing to this exile

Who dreams of a glorious Day

A City of Peace

All sorrows released

And wickedness clean gone away.

Dear Jesus you reign

Our ageless refrain

With no bitter dues left to pay.
