If I Spoke

But what if I spoke
Through the lips
Of a yielded one?
Heart that had listened
Through long training years
Knew of my touch
And my Word
Like a lodestar
Would he be heard
As he warned through his tears?
Yes, still a prophet
And humbled
As speaking truth
Yes still a servant
Dispatching my will
Would you pay heed
As if hearing the heavenlies
Or just suspect
No such gift remained still?
(Note: The prophet may foretell developments still to come. He is just as likely to tell forth the will of God as pertaining to a circumstance, attitude, person or community. He will manifest the humility of a Jeremiah having come through a time in the pit. He will tremble at the message. He will take no personal credit. He is to be proof-read in relation to all of the spirit of scripture.)
